How self-involved is it to want to be the best, most important and biggest love of someone's life?

People go through life and have relationships and love many people. Shouldn't we just be happy that they love us at all? Isn't it enough that they are choosing to be with us?

Why is it so easy to get wrapped up the other relationships they've had? Is it just insecurity?

And what's with the desire to know all the gorey details? Isn't that just some kind of self-torture?

Is it so hard to just be content?
