Today, I actually told someone in a calm and rational manner that sometimes they hurt my feelings.

I realized...it's a little easier to make snotty, sarcastic remarks at someone than to say, "You may not realize this, but when you do/say x things, it hurts my feelings." However, usually the second method works more towards your advantage.
